Serendipity Stamps Challenge

I cannot begin to tell you how upsetting it is when blogger does not cooperate...I started posting this over an hour ago and it still will not let me edit it to my liking. So I am leaving it alone...I hope you all understand that I hate the spaces between the paragraphs, etc...but if I try to mess with this again, I will lose the pictures and have to start all over.

Okay first of all, Hi Peeps! This is the challenge from Serendipity Stamps ~

Due – July 16th, 2011 Requirements – Send a Christmas card (or other project), made using stamps that are NOT traditionally Christmas or winter stamps. That means no snowmen, no Baby Jesus, no Christmas trees etc. But it has to be obvious that it’s a Christmas or “Winter Holiday” card. The primary stamp used on the project must be a Serendipity Stamps image.Prize – A brand new set of 45 Bruynzeel Aquarelle Pencils (watercolor pencils) – a value of $50!

Please go to Serendipity Stamps Gallery so that you can see a picture of these awesome Pencils...Ooooo how I would love to win this great prize!

Here is my take on this challenge... I used SU's Green and Red Cardstock. This image is called "Spring In Provence." I colored it using my Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol...then I added Christmas Flower Soft to the edges of the door and porch. I put red rhinestones on the Flower Soft to make it look like lights. The Christmas tree is a button that I added rhinestones to (to look like lights)...and cut the back of the button off. I wanted it to look like a decoration beside the door. I added some Happy Holiday ribbon that I have had forever and a pointsettia from my stash. Please click on either picture to see a close up...Blogger gave me a hard time trying to post this...but I finally gave up and just let my paragraphs go below the pictures.

This was loads of fun...and put my mind to thinking about creativity. I could not be more pleased with how this turned out and I hope you like it as much as I do...Thanks Serendipity for the "fun" challenge!!!

What a wonderful doorway Velta! and you sure dressed up a regular stamp to look like Christmas - the same way we dress up our own home doors for the season!

You asked about how I made my bows - with this wrinkled seam tape I just tie it in a bow and then tie a second bow on top of it- I pull the stems each time to make the loops the size I want them before making the 2nd bow - hope that makes sense - this wrinkled stuff just falls wonderfully - I get it here: http://www.prairiebirdboutique.etsy.com you get 3 colors in a set and it's very reasonably priced

Have a great weekend Velta!

What a great prize! You did an amazing job on this, Velta! I had to look very closely to see that it's NOT a Christmas stamp. Spring in Provence? Sure looks like Christmas to me! Wishing you luck with the challenge!

This is a lovely image Velta, and it looks exactly like Christmas without the usual image! The button tree is a fabulous find, and I love all the bling in your greenery too! Great job on the challenge!

This is beautiful Velta. Love the beautiful image and all that lovely Flower Soft. WOW.

I understand your frustration with Blogger. I actually use Windows Live Writer, which is linked to my blog so I can write up my post in Live Writer and when I tell it to post, it goes to blogger (minus the wonky paragraph spacing).
