My first attempt at sponging the background

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I have posted. Mainly because I have had a lot of family obligations going on. Cannot leave out my work duties either. At any rate, I have had to step down from 2 of my Design Teams, My Time Made Easy and Paper Makeup Stamps. This was a very hard decision to make and I hated stepping down from 2 of the best DT's ever! It was an honor that I was picked in the first place. The team was wonderful to me, but in the end it was a must do. I simply did not have the time to make my schedules. Thank you to MTME and to PMS for all that you have done for me. I will continue to use your images/papers/templates, because I love them all!!

This card is a first when it comes to my making a background using sponges and Momento Inks. I was very pleased with the outcome, especially since it was my first try at it.

The first thing I did was sponge the background on White Shimmer Cardstock from Paper and More using Memento Angel Pink, Tangelo, Summer Sky, Cantalope, and Danube Blue inks using a circular motion. I overlapped some of the inks to give a more realistic feel to the background. I then stamped Artful Inkables "A Friendly Light" image of the lighthouse on the card and colored with my Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol.

The sentiment came from Heartfelt Creations
Hope In The Lord PreCut Set (HCPC3311). What a wonderful verse! I cut out the sentiment using Nestabilities Labels. I added a blue bow and silver string with a key charm on the end. Then put a rhinestone on the top of the lighthouse to make it look like the light is always on. The background cardstock came from SU's Bashful Blue and some black cardstock in my stash.

I hope you like my first rendition of sponging a background. Take care, thanks for your comments and have a great week!

Paper Makeup Stamps Challenge # 10

Welcome to another Digi Makeover Challenge!

Again, I am enjoying the weather! So nice to have a cool breeze!

I will get on with my challenge take. This week’s digi makeover challenge is using “Don’t Be A Square” challenge you see here. I began by using Spellbinder’s Grand Nestabilities Labels Four with SU’s Certainly Celery cardstock. I lifted the die just a little at the top so I could make a card out of it. Then I used Paper Trey Ink’s “Green Tea Leaves Collection for the Designer Paper with a smaller Nestability. The digital word art came from Paper Makeup Stamps and I had it downloaded in seconds and printed on shimmery white cardstock from Paper and More. I used Momento’s “Lady Bug” ink to sponge around the word art. I added some Prima Flowers and Kaiser rhinestones.

Well, I do believe this fits the bill of “Don’t Be A Square.” I love the colors and the digital word art is really growing on me.

My Pretty Palette # 34

Hi all! I hope you are all having a great weekend! Today's Pretty Palette Challenge shows the colors light pink, olive and brown. This was not hard to figure out, using MTME's digital images. I used "Gingersnap’s with Sugar and Spice.” The sentiment also came from these darling digi images. I started with SU’s Pretty in Pink Cardstock and added some olive colored DP that I bought from Hobby Lobby. I used Spellbinder’s Rectangle Nesties. The gingerbread darlings were easy peasy. I just added some pink and olive colors with my Copic Markers and then added some copper and white pearls. The snowflakes came from my stash, which I have had for a while and do not remember where I got them.

Here's the detail on how the challenge works:

Paper Makeup Stamps Challenge # 9

Welcome to another Digi Makeover Challenge!

We have had the most beautiful weather here. The temperatures have ranged from the high 30’s to the high 60’s. I wish it could stay this way, but winter must come. I have spent most of my weekend with my family. Yesterday, Annie, my sister, and I went to do our usual grocery shopping and after that, we went shopping at Bed, Bath & Beyond. We then went to Shoe Station and I bought one pair of shoes and Annie bought two pairs. Then we met my DD and her beautiful family and we had lunch together. After that, Annie and I went to Southern Homes & Gardens, a favorite garden place here. I bought 3 bushes and she bought several flats of pansies. Just a fun, great day!

This week’s digi makeover challenge is using the sketch you see here. I just had to make one more Halloween card. I used the digi image called “Lief.” What a great name for this leafy fella! Colored him with my Copics and used SU’s “Pumpkin Pie” for the background and Paper Trey Ink’s “Autumn Abundance” for the background DP. I then added the Halloween ribbon that I bought from Hobby Lobby, some more “Pumpkin Pie” with a double sided ribbon and bow from my stash. I sponged around Mr. Lief using Momento’s Tangelo.

Gottta run…By the Way, Happy Halloween to all!

Pretty Palette # 33

Here are this weeks Pretty Palette Colors. I used My Time Made Easy's "Take Time for Petal Perfection." Digital Images. I colored the images with my Prisma Color Pencils and Gamsol and I used my Copic Markers too. The design papers came from Paper Trey Ink's 2008 Bitty Dot Basics. I used Spellbinders Petite Scalloped Circles for the flowers and added purple rhinestones to the tips and the middle. The ribbon came from my stash.

I made this adorable box from MTME's "Slip Cover Template." This template was soo easy to make and I cannot wait to use it for Christmas presents. The size of the box is 5 3/4 " tall, 43/4 " wide and 1/1/2" deep. It can hold A2 sized cards/envelopes. Great gift idea don't ya think? I put some "Midnight Path" Wall Flowers from Bath and Body Works in the box, but the ideas are endless!

I hope you like my little gift set as much as I had fun making it! Have a great week all!!!

Paper Makeup Challenge # 8

Hope all is well with everyone. I am using the Challenge # 8 to the left.

Oh what a fun image this one is. I began by using SU’s More Mustard Cardstock and added some gorgeous DP that I purchased at Hobby Lobby a while back. I added rust colored satin ribbon and the Martha Stewart Halloween Fence Punch using SU’s Chocolate Chip cardstock. I colored the bats on the fence with my stickles using Gunmetal stickles…but I don’t think you can see the shimmer (darn). I used Spellbinder’s Labels Four for this fun “Mummy” digital image. Colored him with my Copic Markers and added green rhinestones for his eyes. I even colored his fingernails with a green glitter pen. Then lastly I added some copper glitter dots.

I do hope you all have a great week ahead ! We would love for you to play along by uploading your digi at the Digi Makeover Challenge Blog…so here are:
